I are here

Posted by RaJ on August 25th, 2009

Greetings.  :-P

Have I mentioned I’m in Japan - working, sad to say, not touring - for the month of August? I haven’t mentioned? Maybe that’s because of my UNBELIEVABLY HORRIFIC SLOW internet connection here?

Nevertheless, Japan = awesome++.

Awesome.

I’d post pics but cannot because UHS connection means no uploading.

Perhaps when I get back to the US, hmm?

I have managed to go on a day trip to Miyajima, which was cool. There were supposed to be hordes of wild monkeys roaming the island; I saw none.

None.

NONE.

*sigh*

Maybe next weekend!

Ook! λ

Be thankful you didn’t see any monkeys. A friend of mine who grew up in India has told me stories of monkey gangs (no joke). Not something I’d like to come across while traveling in a foreign land.

Oh, and I’m glad to hear you’re not dead.

Sorry about the monkeys… and the internet connection. I’m here via Luisa/Novembrance, who encouraged me to break out of my shell and come and say hello. I believe I’ve actually been here before, but it was years ago. So… um… hi!

Oh yeah, that’s right - come back to us when your Twitter is out of range… (hey and anyway - isn’t Japan supposed to be the epitome of tech achievement? Slow internet? Wha?)

  4. BadAunt Says:

Slow internet??? Where are you staying? I didn’t think there was any such thing anymore in Japan!

Also, I thought Miyajima was famous for the deer, but only because when I went there I saw lots of deer. Did you see deer?

(A day trip to Miyajima … hmm . . . are you in Hiroshima?)

  5. RaJ Says:

Near Hiroshima, yes. Staying in a hotel on a US military base, hence the sub-standard internet I guess. *annoyance*

I did see lotsa deer, yes. Although to me they seem something less than sacred when they’re munching on trash bags…

It takes a trip to Japan for you to update this blog even with slow internet connection? I hope they send you all over the world with slow internet connection more often.

Upon further review– seems like it’s just my hotel room connection that brings the suckage. Right now I’m slurping wireless from an office near my worksite and it’s nice and snappy.

    Hmm…

Thanks for dropping back in - even with the annoyances the trip to Japan sounds sort of wonderful (not the flight though - too many hours with too little movement in too little space with too many others contaminating my air).
I just saw an Anthony Bourdain “No Reservations” in Thailand - they had monkeys - he was wary and generally unimpressed. Small monkeys - but still kind of intimidating when they look like they are poised to jump on your head and bite off your nose unless you hand over the banana (or other food like substance you have).
On another show I can’t remember, gangs of monkeys hung around at bus or train stops and attacked people that were carrying anything that might contain food!

Not that I know what it is or anything, but clearly you have an amazingly cool job. Lucky you.

And welcome back to the land of the living.

Currently im working on finding a way onto facebook. wish me luck (I know what your gonna say “like I actually care what you do” dont even bother typing it cause i dont care! >=P)

  14. RaJ Says:

I do care. Can’t help it; that’s just how I roll.

Unless you’re spam. Then not so much.

You want to see monkeys, go to Durban in South Africa; they break into houses like raccoons ravaging everything inside. Sometimes though, our friends can take photos of them just trying to get in.
