Not eyesafe

Posted by RaJ on July 27th, 2007

No way could I let this one pass. BBC News “science” headline:

US Army eyes truck-mounted laser

My first thought? If they don’t stop doing that, they’ll go blind.

Update: still waiting for someone to comment with the “classic” comeback / punchline / response…

So that explains all this “collateral damage” I’ve heard so much about…

Think I could get them to look my way if I shook some tinfoil in their direction?

  2. RaJ Says:

    I don’t know. Tinfoil = chaff, and chaff = fooled / confused sensors, so…

Ya, this seems scary but it is safer that close quarter battle. And then some one has to do it.

Read this BBC piece with the RT (Resident Teen) and he informed me that the entire fuselage of the jet is a cell to hold all the chemicals needed to use the lasar…..I wonder what happens if it crashes…..Don’t you just love the military? I guess we should be relieved that there will be a new and improved “light” model soon on our shelves. Sunglasses, anyone?

isn’t this just the “hummer” version of Reagan’s Star War defense system?

I’ll just stick with the sharks with frickin’ lasers on their heads!

  6. jean knee Says:

well, how is the army even gonna see anything if a truck is humping its lazers?

  7. Dawn Says:

That is funny. I have heard that causes blindness. This is one of those “I meant it that way” comments.

    Seriously? ;-)
