Q: What’s the difference between a house and a horse?A: You are! HAHAHAHAHAHAHahahaha!I made that up all by myself.
* * * * *
I’m worried about Today’s Youth. And as we all know, when the going gets worrisome, the worrisome get going. So! I’m going to conduct this little Survey. Have you watched one or more episodes of the following television series / shows, either on TV or video/dvd?
- The Three Stooges (Moe, Larry, and Curly)
- The Outer Limits and/or Twilight Zone (”original” black & whites)
- Star Trek - the Original Series
- M.A.S.H. (not ‘MASH’) (duh) (I knew that)
One more: have you seen one or more segments of the “Back To The Future” movie trilogy?Update Cheese and crackers, people! I LOVE the explanations and elaborations you’re providing. Especially The Bibliophile’s (I have a soft spot for fuzzy slippers so that might be a factor). No worries: this isn’t a survey to assign oldness or youthness; I simply had something resembling a Thought, and your responses have created a Radioactive Thought Feedback Loop™. Thanks, more soon!

I’m improving my demeanor when it comes to watching the things I should have watched, but there’s still quite a bit that I’m missing
Yes
Not really, I’ve only seen a couple of clips of Twilight Zone, but not much of the actual shows
Yes, but in the down right annoying “Star Trek 2.0″ format on G4
Yes
Yes, all three; and I’ve done the ride at Universal Hollywood

A quick five question quiz, too much for the poll toy, huh?
In response,
1. No.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
4. Yes.
5. Yes, all three. And although you didn’t ask, but because sephyroth answered it, I too have been on the ride at Universal. They actually held it open for me and a friend, because we had been waiting and waiting. It was totally overrated.

This was the Week that Was, Vol. 3…
It’s been a relatively quiet week around here. I’ve done a bit of work, but the big highlight of the week is that we’re getting into the hot season of the year; yesterday was the hottest day so far, w……

First, the joke–huh? Oh, wait. I get it! I get it!
Second, the poll.
I have never watched an entire Three Stooges anything, anywhere, ever because they. Are. So. Annoying. (Sorry)
Twilight Zone–oh, yes! How to Serve Mankind? In a light broth with a bit of parsley.
Outer Limits–no, sorry.
Star Trek–yes, for the kitsch. And because Captain Kirk was the originator of. The. One. Word. Sentence.
MASH–Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes! My roommate in college (Amy from my Spain trip) and I watched the re-run every night of sophomore year at ten o’clock. Yep. We were partiers.
Bonus question–I think I saw all three (were there three?) of the Back to the Future movies, but can strangely remember only two. Hmmmmmmm.

Do I actually count as a Youth? Schweeet….
Three Stooges - I’m your typical girl, don’t like em and don’t care to watch em
Outer Limits/Twilight Zone - yep and yep, some great stuff there
Star Trek - the original, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, then I bugged out
MASH - every one at least three times
Oh, and Back to the Future - all of them
July 9th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
I have watched The Three Stooges; my dad made sure of that. I feel I should mention he also introduced me to the Marx Brothers, even though you didn’t ask about that. I watched The Twilight Zone in 7th grade Lit. class, but I cannot remember why… maybe something to do with surprise endings. I remember that when Star Trek the Next Generation debuted I was very small, but also quite accustomed to the orginal Star Trek, and was thus not sure my parents knew what they were talking about when they told me this show was supposed to be Star Trek. I had fuzzy slippers that I considered to be tribbles. I love M.A.S.H.; it’s true classic, but I can’t think about it too much, or all the sudden I’ll be on Amazon ordering it. As for Back to the Future, I think I’ve seen all three, but I haven’t seen any of them for a long time. Okay, I’m done, I’m so sorry, I just can’t seem to stop typing!

I have the Back to the Future movies on DVD; and apparently I will not be going on the ride at Universal Studios, because as I understand it will be closing down.
As for the others shows you’ve mention, I may have seen bits and pieces, an episode here and there.
Actually I have seen the “Twilight Zone” movie, that was done in the early 80s. So I might check out series when it’s released on DVD over here in Australia.

The Three Stooges (Moe, Larry, and Curly) — nope
The Outer Limits and/or Twilight Zone (”original” black & whites) — I used to watch Outer Limits reruns on TV every weekend, but I don’t remember if they were black and white or not. I watched at least one or two episodes of the Twilight Zone, which came on after Outer Limits.
Star Trek - the Original Series — nope
MASH — I’m sure I saw at least one full episode, because my dad watched it every night.
My husband owns the Back to the Future trilogy on DVD, and we’ve seen each episode several times. #2 is still my least favorite.

Yes
yes
yes
yes
and yes.
So…what does this mean? That I’m old? That I’m definitely not a part of this generation?
Hmmm, should I be worried or thankful? LOL
July 9th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
I’ve seen all of those (reruns on TV) and seen almost every episode of each (except outer limits)
July 9th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Yes
No
No
Yes
Did I win?
July 9th, 2007 at 9:34 pm
Joke - Hah! cracked me up
I have seen all programs listed (I’ll admit - 1st run except for 3 stooges - guess I am old)
As well as almost all of the classic Looney Toons (which they have now ruined by editting - bastards). Looney Toons we my only exposure to classical music (kill the wabbit). And Night Gallery, and Gilligan’s Island, Partridge Family, the Monkees, Get Smart - oh man!

yes…oh wait…whoops…too many answers for too few questions.
If answering yes to all of them…does that make me old?

A poll? How fun! Oh this is to prove how un-hip I truly am, isn’t it?
Three Stooges. No! (how many women answer yes to that?)
The Outer Limits. The outer limits of what? So, I supose that is No!
Twilight Zone. Yes, when I visit my family. No to the show!
Star Trek. To quote myself…”what kind of dumb-ass question is that?” So, No!
M.A.S.H. finally an answer that is not NO…however, it is not a yes, it is a sort of.
I went on a date with a very sexy man to the drive-in to see one of the Back to the Future movies, so the answer is…..No!
That was fun and I was able to prove how un-hip I truly am.

(Cue sad violin music): We didn’t have a TV for most of the time I was a child/youth, but I’ve done a little catching up. We are working our way en famille through the original Star Trek series; we’re about halfway through and loving it. (Last night’s episode was “A Piece of the Action.”) I’ve seen a few late-night MASH reruns.
We own the BTTF trilogy on DVD; my kids have seen them multiple times. I saw all three in the theater when they came out. One of our favorite SNL quotes is mimicking Dana Carvey’s (?) scene in an elevator when he sings “Gonna go back in time” ad infinitum.
July 10th, 2007 at 10:09 am
I can answer this poll.
1. yes
2. yes,yes
3. yes
4. yes
5. yes all three.
Of course that wasn’t too recently, I have been too busy blogging.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:01 pm
In spite of my relative youth (25), I have seen all of the above. My father made sure I was well educated.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
Oh, as an addition, my favorite of these is the original Star Trek and my favorite episode is the Gorn. Just so you know.
