How ya doing?

Me, I’m thinking about coming up with a couple blog-related New Year Resolutions. I’ll let you know as soon as I have some.

Okay seriously, I’m a total slacker and I’m sorry. As in “pathetic.”

But I’ll stop slacking and start bligging again soon I promise.

Something’s broken here, blog-wise, and I’m not sure I can fix it. Older in-post videos aren’t visible, a bunch of widget-buttons in my post edit window have disappeared or don’t work, and I’m like, sixteen versions behind on WordPress and plug-in updates.

Even if these b0rken pieces can be fixed - and that’s uncertain at best - I have neither the time nor the motivation to go down that long and winding road.

I’m thinking about starting over. Maybe with a different url, different theme, different… blog.

Maybe it’s time to freeze the radioactive jam, and spread something new. Hmm?

Lotsa work and fun family stuff coming up, so I’m taking a month off. Technically. That is to say, while I might post something over the next few weeks, most likely I won’t.

The Radioactive Realms - whatever that means - may soon become a sovereign nation. Proposed name: Wazootystan. As your radioactive overlord I am pleased to inform you that leaving a comment on any post here automatically qualifies you for citizenship in Wazootystan.

I cannot tell you how much this excites me, but I can say this: granting Wazootystan citizenship to every commenter is almost the least I can do.

Update: now working on a Wazootystan national motto. Choices so far include “Teh few. Teh Proud. Teh Stoopid Wazootys.” and “Something is technically wrong with us.”* Yes, I need help could use a little help here. Ideas, Wazootyzens?

Also if anyone knows how to get .wz assigned as our top level domain… yeah. Not holding my breath on that one.

* The phrase “Something is technically wrong” comes from one of Twitter’s (unfortunately) many and diverse error notifications. The “with us” addendum was suggested by Twitterfeiend mxbx as something that would look nice on a t-shirt.

This whole “blog” thing - it’s too much pressure.

* Before creating and “researching” this post I only knew about the Gregg Allman version. This makes the second time today the VIMH said, “That’s why teh internets are kewl.”†
† Today’s first time was when I visited the Guinness World Records website and read about a guy whose ear hair measured 5 inches / 13 cm long. Imagine my surprise on learning there’s (apparently) no corresponding category for nose hair. If there were such a category, I know some people who could compete. Do you?

I finally let the monkeys hack update my blog to the latest version of WordPress. If you notice anything that seems more broken than usual please let me know.

Guess I better figure out if the ever so ballyhooed ‘tags’ are– hey! There’s a new widget in the post edit window. “Insert poll?” Oh I have GOT to try that one!

Wow that’s pretty not exciting. Maybe there are some settings… somewhere.

Update Apparently the widget only works with existing polls; maybe nonexistent polls will be supported in a future release. As a proof of - concept? widget? - here’s a nice, nerdy poll from April 2007. Enjoy.
